Donation for the organisation "Future for Africa"
Also this year we decided to forego presents and make a donation instead. The choice fell on the organisation „Future for Africa". A project that is not only important to us, but also to one of our employees.The organisation was founded in 2002 and is headed by Stefan Kölbl – our buyer – since this year. He himself is frequently on site to support projects and to give a helping hand. With the help of the association, more than 20 schools have been built to date. In Senegal, the school enrolment rate is now over 80 %.
In addition to the lack of school education, the missing vocational training and the associated lack of job prospects are a major problem. This is where „Future for Africa" provides relief through so-called „horticulture projects": arable land is purchased for the cultivation of crops, the villagers receive training to gain expertise in farming and the project is supported comercially. To date, 20 of these agricultural village communities have been established and provide work and bread for more than 20,000 people.
For the future, the construction of vocational schools for the training of skilled trades is planned. The first school was opened in Fabruary this year. Young men and women learn the practical and theoretical basics of the professions of farmer and electrician here.
With our donation of 2.000 Euros we are sure to contribute a part to this change.
